Publisher’s note: Only 150 copies of this limited-edition chapbook will be printed.
Windsor poet Dorothy Mahoney’s latest collection, The Good Tourist, plays at the crossroads of travel and poetic tradition. Reflecting on her wanderings through Europe, Asia, the Americas, and locations further afield, Mahoney employs the Japanese haibun form to capture moments of beauty, humanity, and cultural frisson — while maintaining a reflective, often ironic, acknowledgement of herself as that most awkward of characters: the tourist.
Evoking the best of Elizabeth Bishop’s South American travel poetry and Jane Hirshfield’s ecological and emotional awareness, Mahoney’s poems delight with their clarity, sensitivity, and humour.
This publication marks the second in Woodbridge Farm Book's Scarlet Tanager Poetry Series. Only 150 of these hand-bound, limited-edition chapbooks will be published.
